Pokemon 30th anniversary cards: checklist and set guide

Pokemon 30th anniversary cards are now in collectors' hands: 30th Celebration released worldwide on September 16, 2026. The official English checklist lists 158 numbered main-set cards, 30 Classic Collection cards and eight Basic Energy cards. That is 196 checklist entries, not a promise that every promo or additional variant belongs in one master set.

Start by choosing which of those groups you want. The 30 Pikachu rare cards already sit inside the 158-card main list; adding them again would count them twice. For boxes, promos and regional release dates, use the 30th Celebration product guide.

The PDF does not list the additional Mew cards collectors call RGB. Its absence is a limitation of this checklist, not evidence that a card does not exist. This guide's counts and binder calculation cover the PDF's listed entries only. They exclude product promos, stamped copies, oversize cards and any unlisted variants.

All 30 Pikachu cards: which numbers belong together?

The Pikachu rare run is 023/128–052/128. Those are the thirty cards behind the one-Pikachu-per-booster statement. Pikachu ex 053/128 and 054/128 are separate cards. The day-and-night special illustration rare pair, Pikachu ex 149/128 and 150/128, is separate too.

That distinction fixes a problem in the earlier reveal coverage: the old 24-image Pikachu preview included Pikachu ex cards. It was not a count of 24 out of the thirty Pikachu rares. Use the final checklist numbers when you mark your missing cards.

For a small display, the two parade scenes make a satisfying pair. For the full Pikachu rare run, keep thirty slots in number order and move duplicates into a trade pile. Buying more packs is a less targeted way to fill the last few gaps than trading or finding the missing singles.

Pikachu artist checklist: all thirty English cards

Each card also has a second number beside the Pikachu-shaped rarity marker: 01/30 through 30/30. Ken Sugimori's card, for example, is both Pikachu 023/128 and 01/30. When a seller uses only the artist or the smaller number, use this table to find the English collector number.

Choose by the art you want to see again. Asako Ito's 027/128 shows a knitted Pikachu resting on grass; James Turner's 029/128 uses bold outlines and scattered flowers; Shinji Kanda's 040/128 fills the scene with dense color and lightning. Those are three different collecting targets, even when a listing calls all of them simply “Pikachu rare.”

Put the thirty Pikachu in four page sides

Start this group on a fresh nine-pocket side and fill left to right, top to bottom. This keeps every gap tied to a collector number:

The six remaining pockets can stay empty or hold a separate display; they are not six missing Pikachu rares. Leave a numbered placeholder in each genuine gap before trading duplicates. That makes a missing 027/128 visible even if you already own several other Pikachu cards.

How many packs for all 30 Pikachu cards?

Thirty packs are nowhere near a safe route to all 30 Pikachu variants. In an equal-odds model, 30 boosters produce about 19.15 unique Pikachu cards on average. The expected number of packs needed to see all 30 is 119.85, and even 120 packs gives only a 58.49% chance of completion.

This is a planning model, not an official pull rate. Pokemon confirms one Pikachu card per booster, but it has not confirmed equal distribution or collation.

Method behind the Pikachu model

The model treats each booster as one independent draw from 30 equally likely Pikachu variants. Expected unique cards after _n_ packs are calculated as `30 × (1 − (29/30)^n)`. Completion chances use a state transition from zero through 30 unique cards. No opening data is used or excluded. The model expires when reliable collation or pack-opening evidence becomes available. FUR cards versus other Mew and Mewtwo cards

FUR means Futuristic Rare. The English checklist identifies Mewtwo ex 157/128 and Mew ex 158/128 as the two FUR cards, illustrated by YOSHIROTTEN. They are different from Mewtwo ex 151/128 and Mew ex 152/128, which are special illustration rares, and from the lower-numbered versions.

For a FUR purchase, confirm Mewtwo ex 157/128 or Mew ex 158/128 rather than the special illustration rare at 151/128 or 152/128. A listing headed only “30th Celebration Mew ex” is not specific enough to compare prices. The same artist designed the Basic Energy artwork; an Energy card is not a third FUR Pokemon card.

Classic Collection: old numbers, new anniversary cards

The Classic Collection revisits thirty historic cards with an anniversary foil treatment. Its numbering follows the older cards instead of continuing the main list. Charizard is number 4, Pikachu is 58, and Magikarp is 203. All three belong to the Classic Collection when you are checking the anniversary printings.

Darkrai & Cresselia LEGEND takes two slots, numbers 99 and 100. Also match the card name when a number repeats: Shining Celebi, Palkia LV.X and M Gardevoir-EX each appear at number 106. A bare number cannot identify this subset on its own.

The official expansion page ↗ (opens in a new tab) describes Classic cards appearing in normal booster packs. They are not exclusive to the separate three-card Classic Collection pack supplied with the Ultra-Premium Collection. The official English gallery says the main expansion becomes tournament legal on September 25, 2026, and excludes the Classic Collection from that tournament-legality statement.

How much binder space does this checklist need?

If you collect one copy of every entry in the official English PDF, reserve 196 pockets. In a nine-pocket layout that fits on 22 page sides, leaving two empty pockets. If each group starts on a fresh side, allow 18 sides for the main set, four for Classic Collection and one for Energy: 23 sides in total.

These are pocket calculations, not a recommendation to buy every card. One page side holds nine cards; a double-sided physical sheet can hold eighteen. Promos or extra variants require additional space. Do not automatically double the list for reverse holos: this PDF provides a standard-set foil checkbox, not a second complete reverse-holo checklist.

Keep the part you enjoy collecting at the front. A thirty-card Pikachu collection or the two parade cards can feel finished without forcing every anniversary product into the same binder.

30th Celebration English card list: all 158 numbered cards

Names and order below follow the official English checklist. This table covers the main numbered set, not Classic Collection, Energy or promos. Japanese cards have different numbering; use their own checklist. For artwork, consult the official gallery, and use the card catalog to match a card before adding it to your collection.

Compare release-week prices carefully

An asking price is not a completed sale, and release-week stock changes quickly. Compare the same set, number, language, finish and condition before deciding whether a single fills your gap at a price you accept. A Classic reprint should not inherit the value of its older original.

TCGplayer, Cardmarket and eBay measure different parts of the market. Keep the marketplace, currency and date beside any comparison. Viral pack openings and website card animations do not establish physical pull rates.

Our registered post-release price study

The measurement below was registered on 2026-09-03, before release. Its eligibility rules and dates remain unchanged. The first comparison has a September 23 cutoff; as of that date, the complete daily observations and coverage check are still pending. No measured result is reported here. We still need to verify that the originally eligible cards meet the coverage threshold. Later catalog additions cannot silently replace missing cards.

Excluded on purpose: sealed products, which are a different unit and never get blended into a singles number; graded copies; promos and stamped variants outside the numbered set; other languages, which have their own supply; and any card added to our catalog after the registration date.

What that result will be allowed to say is also fixed in advance: how the median asking reference moved between two named dates, how many measured cards moved which way, and what the coverage was. What it will never say: a set market capitalisation, a blended sealed-and-singles return, a guaranteed sale price, or an average across marketplaces that measure different things. If coverage falls below 80%, we publish the shortfall instead of a number.
