Pokemon 30th anniversary cards: confirmed set guide

Thirty Pikachu cards can turn one tidy binder plan into three different collections: favorite artwork, all 30 variants, or a full 30th Celebration set. Choose which one you want before the first pack is opened. Pokemon has now shown exact collector numbers for several Pikachu cards and named more Legendary Pokemon, but it has not published a complete numbered international checklist.
As of September 9, the confirmed Pokemon 30th anniversary cards include 30 Pikachu holo variants, new Futuristic Rare cards, 30 historic cards in a special treatment, and paired day-and-night artwork. Pokemon's official gallery now shows 24 of the 30 numbered Pikachu cards. The sensible move is to pick a goal now and add only verified cards until the full list is available.

The two Pikachu parade cards make the day-and-night idea easy to collect without chasing the whole set. Number 149 shows a bright parade with Pokemon such as Alolan Exeggutor, Espeon, and Sylveon. Number 150 shifts to fireworks, Gengar, Umbreon, and Midnight Form Lycanroc. The mirrored scenes are a real pair; they still do not tell us how every English card or rarity will be configured.

What the new FUR rarity changes
FUR stands for Futuristic Rare. The first revealed examples are Mew ex and Mewtwo ex, both illustrated by YOSHIROTTEN. They are a distinct visual thread within the set, not another name for the 30 Pikachu holo cards.
That distinction matters when you plan a binder. A FUR subset, a Pikachu-art collection, and a full numbered set are three different targets. Mixing them into one unfinished checklist makes every reveal feel mandatory.
How the 30 historic cards work
Pokemon says 30 cards representing the game's history will return in a special treatment. The official Japanese page currently shows Charizard from the original 1996 expansion and Pikachu & Zekrom-GX as examples.
The page also includes an important play note: the returning historic cards are not legal in the current Standard format. They can be used only where the original card is legal. Collectors building a display page can enjoy the history; players should check the regulation separately.
How many packs for all 30 Pikachu cards?
Thirty packs are nowhere near a safe route to all 30 Pikachu variants. In an equal-odds model, 30 boosters produce about 19.15 unique Pikachu cards on average. The expected number of packs needed to see all 30 is 119.85, and even 120 packs gives only a 58.49% chance of completion.
This is a planning model, not an official pull rate. Pokemon confirms one Pikachu card per booster, but it has not confirmed equal distribution or collation.

Method and limitation
This coupon-collector model assumes equal odds for every Pikachu and independent packs. Pokemon confirms one of 30 variants per booster, but has not confirmed equal distribution or collation. This is a planning model, not an official pull rate or buying promise.

Method behind the Pikachu model
The model treats each booster as one independent draw from 30 equally likely Pikachu variants. Expected unique cards after _n_ packs are calculated as `30 × (1 − (29/30)^n)`. Completion chances use a state transition from zero through 30 unique cards. No opening data is used or excluded. The model expires when reliable collation or pack-opening evidence becomes available. The best starting goal for most collectors is a favorite-card list, not all 30 Pikachu variants. You still get the pleasure of choosing the artwork, and duplicates do not decide how far the collection must grow.

Preorder asks can show attention, but they cannot show a settled singles market. Wait until products are opened and completed sales appear before treating a number as useful evidence.

Excluded on purpose: sealed products, which are a different unit and never get blended into a singles number; graded copies; promos and stamped variants outside the numbered set; other languages, which have their own supply; and any card added to our catalog after the registration date.
What that result will be allowed to say is also fixed in advance: how the median asking reference moved between two named dates, how many measured cards moved which way, and what the coverage was. What it will never say: a set market capitalisation, a blended sealed-and-singles return, a guaranteed sale price, or an average across marketplaces that measure different things. If coverage falls below 80%, we publish the shortfall instead of a number.
